I am a Registered Psychologist specializing in couples counselling. I work with couples on a variety of obstacles in their relationship, such as a breakdown of communication, recurring arguments, life transitions, disconnection between partners, and intimacy issues. I also specialize in working with adult individuals struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, and relationship/communication difficulties.
In my work, I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Gottman based couples therapy. I do however tailor my approach to each client, depending on what is a good fit for you.
I provide both online and in-person sessions to accommodate your preferences. Take a look at my website (by clicking the link below), for further information and to access the online booking portal. Looking forward to connecting with you!
I work with children, youth and adults to build healthy coping skills and apply them to their lives. I have a passion working with a range of ages but particularly love working with children/youth and their parents to build deeper relationships. Often children/youth want to have closer relationships with their parents/caregivers (even if they may show you the opposite) but both have difficulty communicating their needs. As a result, there becomes a power struggle between parent and child.
I use an eclectic theoretical approach of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Adlerian, Solution Focused, strengths based and mindfulness techniques. Please visit turnercounselling.ca for more information.
The relationship with your counsellor is the most important part of the counselling. I see counselling as a collaborative, teamwork experience, where we work together to figure out what is going to work the best for you. You know yourself and your situation better then anyone else and I want to help empower you to take control and make change in your life.
Are you struggling with issues related to emotion dsyregulation, trauma, anxiety, or depression? Have you tried other therapies before that have been ineffective? My name is Melanie Vassell, I'm a Registered Psychologist in Okotoks and the Foothills area, specializing in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. My goal is to help you understand your emotions and increase your daily functioning. I implement empirically validated therapies to meet your psychological needs. I primarily employ Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Systemic Family Therapy for individuals, Couples, and Families based on an assessment of your needs.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy utilizes individual therapy sessions, combined with skills training in the area's of Mindfulness (Cognitive Stabilization), Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness (Communication) to reduce emotional reactivity and improve functioning in daily tasks
I am a registered psychologist specializing in child psychology. I provide parenting support to parents of children (ages 2-12) and work with children and their parents (ages 6 -12) in the therapeutic setting.
I provide support with a variety of concerns, including parenting concerns,
divorce/separation, anxiety, social problems, school-related concerns, grief and loss, ADHD, high-functioning autism, and emotional regulation. I also have completed training in EMDR and the ARC trauma framework to work with children who have experienced trauma.
I use an integrated approach, focusing on attachment and emotional processing while incorporating various techniques to suit each individual. I value each client’s unique qualities and work with them to develop their strengths to help them meet their goals. Children engage best through play, so I incorporate games and activities in my sessions to help children have a good experience with the counselling process.
